Water Testing
Checking chemical levels in your pool throughout the season is key to maintaining well-balanced water. Your local Authorized BAQUACIL® Dealer is your best resource for in-store water testing and advice for a proper diagnosis and the products needed to correct anything that might be out of sync. You can also test the water yourself and compare it to the chart provided in our BAQUACIL® CDX® Pool Care Guide. For your convenience, the key steps are outlined below:
Step One
Dip a strip for two seconds and remove.
IMPORTANT: Do not “swish” or move the strip back and forth as this will affect the accuracy of the test. Ensure you dip the test strip fully into the water until the water reaches your elbow.
Step Two
Remove the test strip with the pads face up and shake once to remove excess water.
Step Three
Immediately compare the strip colors to the color chart on the bottle of the BAQUACIL® 4-Way Test Strips. Record the results of your test in the Pool Maintenance Log in the inside of the BAQUACIL® CDX® Pool Care Guide.
IMPORTANT: If the levels indicated on your strip need adjustment, refer to the Water Balance section in the BAQUACIL® CDX® Pool Care Guide.

Naturally, some maintenance is required. But what you’ll love most about our BAQUACIL® CDX® System is how easy it is to maintain once you’ve started your pool on this complete 3-step system.
Spotlight on BAQUACIL® CDX® System Weekly Maintenance
The BAQUACIL® CDX® System includes three key components that work together to save you time and maintenance: BAQUACIL® Sanitizer and Algistat (step 1), BAQUACIL® Oxidizer (step 2) and BAQUACIL® CDX® (step 3). Download the full Pool Care Guide for this system here.
Tip: To maintain good water clarity, it’s important that the BAQUACIL® CDX® product is added immediately following the BAQUACIL® Oxidizer. Always add BAQUACIL® CDX® product to the skimmer with the pump running.

General Pool Care
Maintaining a regular pool care routine is key to creating plenty of time for fun and relaxation in your pool. Housekeeping, checking water balance, sanitization and getting your water tested are all part of general pool care, items you can learn more about when you download our complete BAQUACIL® CDX® Pool Care Guide.
Here’s a good overview of items to consider in this category:
• Vacuuming and brushing your pool weekly
• Running the filter at least 8-12 continuous hours a day during the season
• Cleaning around the tile and waterline
• Keeping the skimmer and pump baskets clear
• Checking the filter pressure
• Chemically cleaning the filter at least twice during the season
• Preventing algae, especially in regions with high summer temperatures or pools with a history of algae problems
Water Balance
Maintaining your pool water in the proper balance pays big rewards. First, water that has its key chemical factors in the appropriate balance range makes for very comfortable swimming, while even protecting your pool and equipment. Second, balanced water makes pools easier to maintain. Properly balanced swimming pool water meets the following criteria:
• pH: 7.2-7.8
• Metals: none
• Total Alkalinity: 80-150 ppm
• Calcium Hardness:
180-250 ppm (vinyl pools)
200-275 ppm (plaster pools)
• Total Dissolved Solids: less than 2,000 ppm
Your Authorized BAQUACIL® Dealer carries the full range of BAQUACIL® balance products, specially designed to make water balance adjustments quick and easy. As with all pool chemicals, follow the instructions and precautions on the labels of all products.
